World War I Day at Croxley Danes
Last week, Year 8 took part in a fantastic themed day organised by Mrs Cox focussing on World War I. Students experienced a wide range of activities throughout the day. In the morning, there was an opportunity to learn about Croxley Green during the war in two sessions with outside speakers. One of these involved Simon Colbeck who showed the students a film he was involved in making entitled 'Watford's Quiet Heroes'. A link to the film itself can be found below. Students also explored World War I in numbers and created really professional-looking infographics, as you can see in the gallery at the bottom of the page. The afternoon saw activities allowing students to explore the topic in drama, art and writing as well as learning about the famous football match and Christmas truce. We are extremely grateful to the staff and visitors who made this day possible and to the Croxley Green History Project for lending us their pop up display.
