Running Relay for 2.6 Challenge
Last weekend Mrs Cox, Humanities Coordinator, participated in a 26 hour running relay in Croxley Green alongside 48 other local residents, including 3 Croxley Danes School students Maisie, Alice and Cameron. They did it as part of the #TwoPointSixChallenge which is an initiative that has been set up to raise funds for charities in light of the cancellation of so many large fundraising events, such as the London Marathon.
The relay took place around 3 roads very close to our soon to be new school site – Girton Way, Claremont Crescent and Winton Drive. Each ‘lap’ of the course was 500m long. Participants could sign up for half hour or one hour slots over a 26 hour period during the weekend. 26 people did at least 30 minutes of running with a further 22 children doing at least one lap. Over the course of the 26 hours they ran a total of 314km, plus more if you include in what the 22 children ran!
It was a fantastic event, bringing together the community during such unprecedented times. They managed to raise a significant amount of money for three wonderful causes – the NHS, DEBRA (a charity supporting people with a fatal skin condition) and the Rainbow Trust (a children’s charity). Donations are still coming through so there is not a final total to report yet. If you would like to contribute further you can do so by clicking the links below:
