The End of the Year by Nour B 8D
These past 16 months have been quite a stressful period of time for all of us. Schools have been regularly closing down, with lessons then having to switch to virtual learning via Microsoft teams. Then there has been the regular news about having to isolate at home for 10 days because of a positive COVID-19 test.
However, even under all of this stress, our school has been fantastic in providing us with many positive opportunities and there have been many occasions which have been the highlight of the year. Last week the school had an ‘Activities Week’, running from the 6th -9th July with many exciting events which took place.
Year 8 and Year 10 were given the opportunity to go to Willen Lake in Milton Keynes on the 8th July. The trip provided us with team building skills, new adventures and a range of fascinating activities to try out such as the water obstacle course on the lake called ‘Aqua Park’. This trip was definitely one of the highlights of the year so far and we were all so excited!
There were other activities that had been put together for the week: my year group, were given the opportunity to be trained for work experience by team members from the NHS. This was an amazing opportunity to experience, and might even lead to becoming someone’s career choice in the future.
There have been a lot of struggles this past year and many people have experienced disruption to their learning due to COVID. However, we must bear in mind that this has happened to us all and it is becoming a part of the past. I am particularly happy about how much support Croxley Danes has given us in having made sure there is minimal disruption to our studies.
As the year comes to an end, I hope there won’t be further interruptions to our learning because of the virus; I cannot wait to come back to school in September!
