Young Geographer of the Year Competition
We are excited to announce that our Year 9 pupil, Dhara, achieved a Highly Commended Award in the Young Geographer of the Year competition.
The awards ceremony took place on the 12th November 2019 at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) where Dhara was presented with her award.
This year the competition was of an extremely high standard, with over 15,000 people taking part in the competition globally. Dhara worked extremely hard in attaining this success and competing against other entrants.
Dhara wrote the following article based on her experience:
I am very pleased and happy to have received an award from the Royal Society of Geographers for my poster on ‘Where can Geography take you’. I was nominated from over 15,000 entries and felt privileged to be invited to the awards ceremony. At the ceremony, I was impressed by the speech from Dwayne Fields who has inspired me to have a career in Geography. The winners were made to feel very special on the day by being presented with an award and token gifts, a photo session and finally lunch with all those who attended. I would like to thank Mrs Cox for her support and attending the ceremony with me as it made my day even more special.”
A huge congratulations Dhara for this wonderful award and in recognition of your talents as a budding Geographer!
