What does graduating from Cambridge University feel like? Year 12 Brilliant Club students got a taste following their recent achievements on Scholars Programme.
This autumn term, nine Croxley Danes students in our inaugural Year 12 have been participating in the challenging and highly rewarding Brilliant Club’s Scholars Programme. They took part in a super-curricular series of thought-provoking after school seminars with a PhD tutor and wrote a mini dissertation on ‘Making the Most of Tourism’ that was marked at university level. We’re delighted that all the students received the university-style final mark of either a First or a 2:1.
The students visited Emmanuel College, Cambridge on 27th February for a graduation trip organised by the Brilliant Club. With an amazing lecture theatre all to themselves, they reflected on the experience of taking part in the Scholars Programme, and listened intently to a talk about what to think about when applying to a competitive university including the differences of studying at Oxford or Cambridge. A tour of the college site revealed the immense support and opportunities available to its undergraduates and postgraduates, and our students were praised for their confidence in how they engaged in the day’s seminars in a closing, inspirational keynote speech.
