Send My Friend Campaign Champions visit Parliament

Our fantastic Send My Friend Campaign Champions, Emma and Jess visited the Houses of Parliament last week to champion the Education in Emergencies Campaign organised by Send My Friend, a non-profit organisation that calls on world leaders to prioritise education and make sure children globally get the chance to go to school.

At the Houses of Parliament, Emma and Jess sat with Melinda Bohannon, the Director General, Humanitarian and Development to discuss global educational issues. They then took part in a speed meeting with MPs which provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the organisation’s work and goals and persuade MPs to take action in their fight for educational equality and to push the agenda at COP23. The girls were passionate and informed, impressing the MPs with their knowledge on global affairs.

We are so proud of Emma and Jess and how they have taken on their roles as Send My Friend Campaign Champions. Not only have they represented the campaign in parliament but also at the Labour party conference in October and throughout the year where they have attended training sessions, run workshops, written articles and delivered assemblies to local primary schools to spread the message. They also got our local MP, Gagan Mohindra, involved in the cause, inviting him to Croxley Danes to show him the youth policy report they helped edit before it was launched.

Emma and Jess’s time in Parliament last week proved to be a wonderful experience. The girls got to see and learn so much whilst championing the importance for the government to deliver strong commitments on education access for refugees around the world.

Congratulations Emma and Jess on doing such an impressive job of representing Croxley Danes and the Send My Friend Campaign in your roles as Campaign Champions and fighting for such an important cause.
