Croxley Danes Prize Giving Awards Evening 2025
Last week marked a wonderful start to the new term as we hosted our annual Prize Giving Awards Evening — a highlight of the school year, brimming with joy and celebration. This special event gave us the opportunity to recognise the outstanding achievements of both current and former Croxley Danes students over the past academic year.
The main hall was filled with parents, students, staff, and distinguished guests, including the Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire Robert Voss CBE CStJ, DET Director of Education, Chris Marks and DET Director of Secondary Education, as well as former Croxley Danes Headteacher, Stephen Thompson. Over 50 students were honoured with awards and certificates for a range of achievements, including making a significant impact in their year group, showing exceptional dedication to a particular subject, and excelling in their GCSEs or A Levels.
We are incredibly proud of all our award recipients, with special recognition going to Subhan R and Joseph G for achieving the best GCSE performance award, and Yousuf S for securing the best A Level performance award.
The evening was especially meaningful as we welcomed back some of our very first cohort of students, who joined Croxley Danes in 2017 when it first opened. These students completed their secondary school and Sixth Form journey with us last July. It has been a privilege to witness their growth, and we are thrilled to follow their continued success. Many of them have gained places at some of the country's top universities, including Oxbridge, Nottingham, Sheffield, and Queen Mary, to name just a few.
The Lord-Lieutenant Robert Voss CBE CStJ, who delivered a speech and presented the awards, expressed his pleasure in attending the event: "It was a great honour to present prizes to students at Croxley Danes School and to speak with pupils from various year groups, as well as the first cohort to have completed their entire journey since the school opened seven years ago. The modern school itself is very impressive, and I was equally impressed by the prize-winning students — past and present — especially the two current Head Students. I look forward to visiting the school again in the future."
The evening was divided into two parts: the Junior Awards ceremony, followed by the Senior Awards ceremony. Between these segments, our talented musical students provided entertainment, adding the perfect touch to such a celebratory occasion. Headteacher Mr Harris reflected on the event: "The Prize Giving Ceremony was a superb evening of celebration and a wonderful opportunity to recognise the exceptional efforts of our learners, both past and present. It was an honour to have the Lord-Lieutenant in attendance to present the awards and deliver an inspirational speech”.
It was such a pleasure to acknowledge our students in this way, and we look forward to many more such moments in the future.
