Lexia PowerUp

Lexia PowerUp is an adaptive online literacy programme designed to help students strengthen their reading, comprehension, and language skills. It is used at Croxley Danes as part of English learning support lessons and is also available for EAL learners to access independently outside of school.

The programme assesses students' current ability and personalises their learning path, ensuring they receive targeted support in three key areas: Word Study, Grammar, and Comprehension. In the Word Study strand, students develop phonics and spelling skills to improve accuracy in reading and writing. The Grammar section helps them understand sentence structure, punctuation, and effective language use, while the Comprehension activities focus on developing inference skills, summarising key ideas, and analysing different types of texts.

PowerUp provides immediate feedback and scaffolding to guide students through their learning, reinforcing key skills with structured practice. Teachers can monitor individual progress in real-time, identifying areas where students need additional support. If a student struggles with a particular skill, the programme automatically generates extra practice materials, such as targeted digital exercises and printable worksheets, to help consolidate learning. Teachers can also access intervention resources designed to address specific gaps, ensuring that students receive the support they need to progress.

By working through the programme regularly, students build essential literacy skills that improve their confidence and overall academic performance.
