Send My Friend to School training weekend
Over the Easter holidays, this year’s Send My Friend to School Campaign Champions, Jess G and Emma W along with Miss Bhalla, took part in an inspiring and powerful weekend of high-level campaigning and public speaking training led by some of the UK’s leading campaigning experts. The Send my Friend to School campaign aims to bring together young people, politicians, teachers, and the media to jointly campaign to demand quality education for all children across the globe. Emma and Jess passed a challenging and rigorous application and interview process to become part of this year’s cohort, alongside other students from across the UK. The theme of this year’s campaign is Education in Emergencies - here is the girls’ perspective on their weekend away.
This year, the Send My Friend to School Campaign is focusing on education in emergencies, where we attempt to aid those who have interrupted learning due to crises. Crises can include those in conflict zones and those experiencing natural hazards, like earthquakes. The focus this year is seeking quality education for all, ensuring that education can continue, despite these difficulties and challenges.
Our highlight of the campaign weekend was our virtual meeting with Carmen Romero, a passionate activist, who seeks to change the world for the better. We did a Q&A with her, and her answers most definitely influenced us as campaigners in our fight for educational equity. She was really inspiring.
As part of this campaign, we are most looking forward to teaching other pupils about the campaign, as we wish to inspire them, and create a force for our fight for educational justice.
We are so proud that Jess and Emma want to be part of this valuable campaign to support worldwide education for all. Watch this space to find out more about the next stages in the campaign, including meeting Members of Parliament in Westminster!
