Christmas Events 2021
As always, our school community are working to embed our school values of Excellence, Respect and Trust into all aspects of school life. We are proud of how students are displaying these values on a daily basis and are seeking opportunities to extend these beyond the school gate. All money raised in our Charities Events will be donated to three school charities: Herts Young Homeless, Save the Children and BEAT Eating Disorders. We are busy tallying up the totals of the Christmas Events and will be sharing the amount raised in the New Year.
This year we supported Save the Children’s annual Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 10th December. Save the Children supports children both nationally and globally to stay safe and healthy. Money raised enables them to provide food, medicine, and education to support those less fortunate in accessing what they need to live a safer, happier and healthier life. Students wore their own Christmas jumper over the top of their normal school uniform and donated £1 to take part. Additionally, this year we are also supporting Mission Christmas who support disadvantaged families at Christmas. We were overwhelmed by the number of gifts that were donated this year. Candy canes were sold all week for £1 in the LRC for students to send to staff and/or students with a note to express their gratitude for something, or to wish them well over the festive period. The LRC had Christmas crafts for students to complete all week, Year 7s took part in Christmas baking and a Krispy Kreme sale was held and was a roaring success with the students. On the last day and a half of term, students were able to ‘kidnap’ their lessons for a cumulative rate of £6 (20p each) to watch either a Christmas film or to complete a different Christmas activity – it was not surprising that this was a popular choice by the students!
