Geography trip to Iceland
During the half term holiday, a select group of Year 10 geography students visited Iceland for an action packed 5-day field trip. With the unique geographical location of Iceland, south of the Arctic Circle and on top of the ocean’s hot spot, the location was ideal for our budding geographers who made the most of Iceland’s geographical features of mountains, glaciers, volcanoes and lava fields.
Students visited local sites within the capital such as the Bridge Between Continents and Gunnuhver hot springs. They were also treated to the delights of the Black Sand beach and Skogafoss waterfall and were put through their paces with a glacier hike at Sólheimajökull glacier, surrounded by some of Iceland's most grand volcanoes.
After an action packed 4 days, students spent their final day of the trip taking part in a city tour flyover experience. It was the perfect end to an extremely busy but highly educational trip.
