Croxley Danes Students in ‘Watford Remembers’ Parade
On Remembrance weekend, a number of Croxley Danes students took part in a uniform parade for ‘Watford Remembers’ at Watford Football Club and a service of remembrance at St Mary’s Church in Watford with the TS Renown Sea Cadets.
The parade was led by a Highland bagpiper and included the Lord Lieutenant Voss of Hertfordshire (King Charles III county representative) and Watford dignitaries, including Dean Russell MP and Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford. Our Sea Cadet students enjoyed front row seats in the Rookery stand and watched Watford claim a 5-0 victory against Rotherham!
On Sunday 12th November, a service of remembrance took place at St Mary's Church in Watford, led by Rev Rindl. TS Renown Sea Cadets, including eight of our students, led the march to the Town Hall War Memorial. Notable attendees included the Lord Lieutenant Voss of Hertfordshire, Dean Russell MP, Luther Blissett OBE, the Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor, councillors, war veterans and their families and community & faith leaders.
The parade was heralded as "the best parade there has ever been" by Norman Mcguigan (Veteran Company Drill Master of 1st Battalion the Light infantry and national mental health champion of Minds at War charity) who acted as drill master on the day.
Luther Blissett OBE has sent the following message to our students who took part on the day:
"I was immensely proud to have our local Sea Cadets participate in ‘Watford Remembers’ both at Vicarage Road on Saturday and our Parade on Sunday. To see all these young people on parade with their Standard was just fantastic! Their parents should be so proud, as should they be. " Luther Blissett OBE DL
Dean Russell MP offered his thanks to our students:
"I wanted to offer my gratitude and personal thanks to the students of Croxley Danes who took part in the TS Renown Sea Cadet parade in honour of our fallen armed forces, veterans and serving military on Remembrance weekend. You did a marvellous job and we are all very proud of you!"
Croxley Danes are very proud of our students' remarkable contribution to such a special day for Watford - well done!
