Students Shine at Croxley Green’s First Diwali Celebration
Croxley Danes School took part in an exciting community milestone as they joined in the first ever Diwali celebration hosted by Croxley Green Parish Council, switching on the Diwali lights and bringing together community members and students in a festive gathering that honoured the spirit of Diwali.
The Hindu Society of Croxley Danes School contributed a creative and memorable touch to the celebration by organising a school-wide poetry competition. Winners of this competition – Kabir (Year 11), Isabella (Year 8), Shreya (Year 8), and Maan (Year 8) – were invited to recite their poems at the event, showcasing their talent and sharing heartfelt reflections on Diwali’s significance.
Ms Bhalla, who accompanied the students, played a crucial role in their success, offering guidance and encouragement that helped them shine onstage. “Her support made all the difference,” one student noted, “and gave us the confidence to share our poems with the community.”
Croxley Green Parish Councillor Mr Narinder Sian expressed his gratitude to Croxley Danes School and to the student poets. In a message to the school, he wrote, "The talent, enthusiasm, and confidence displayed by the students enriched the evening for everyone present. Their Diwali poems were beautifully crafted and confidently delivered, capturing the spirit of the festival and drawing warm appreciation from the entire crowd. Thank you once again to Croxley Danes for taking part in this special celebration."
The school is incredibly proud of Kabir, Isabella, Shreya, and Maan for representing Croxley Danes with pride, creativity, and respect for Diwali’s cultural importance.
