Success in National Writing Competition
Last academic year, Key Stage 3 students were challenged to take part in a national writing competition, organised by Young Writers, to write a short story inspired by the Crime and Mystery genre. Winning entries would not only receive prizes and certificates but would also see their story feature in a published anthology.
Following the theme of ‘an unsolved mystery or crime’, students let their creativity flow, producing some excellent and imaginative short stories ready to submit to the competition.
We were immensely proud when 23 Croxley Danes students’ stories were selected for the published book out of 20,000 entries that were submitted nationwide for the competition. Winning students received their prizes and certificates at the end of the last academic year, but the real joy came last month when students received their copies of the finished book, a proud moment where they could see their name and work in print.
Young Writers run national writing competitions for schools, a fantastic initiative that aims to help turn imagination and creativity into confidence and writing ability. Well done to all our budding authors who took part.
