21st OctoberExcellence on the International Stage: Mr Murphy Leads England U18 Volleyball to Bronze
A huge well done to our Head of PE, Mr Murphy, who led the England U18 Men’s Volleyball Team to a fantastic bronze medal at last week's 2026 NEVZA Championships in Denmark!
Despite being a young squad for the age category, the team put on an impressive display, defeating eventual champions Denmark 3–1 in their opening pool match and later claiming the bronze medal with a decisive victory.
"One of the most pleasing aspects of the tournament was the culture developing within this young group," reflected Mr Murphy. "Coming away with a bronze medal was a fantastic reward for the athletes’ commitment to being ‘fearless, not reckless’ and their dedication to transition defence, blocking, and service reception."
Up next for the squad is a fixture in the Student Cup against top university programmes to gain valuable experience against taller, more powerful men's teams, followed by the Celtic Cup and three summer camps prior to the CEV European Qualifiers next October.
We are incredibly proud of Mr Murphy and grateful for the passion and high level expertise he brings to our students every day at Croxley Danes School.
