Climate Change Conference
Croxley Danes School were delighted to be invited to attend a Climate Change Conference at Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School on the morning of Tuesday 4th February 2020. We took a group of 14 students to the event in which they participated in a range of sessions, including lectures with guest speakers and a debating session where they had to take on the role of a country and represent them in a model United Nations event. Our students were representing Nigeria and Bangladesh – they had to put forward a resolution for the United Nations meeting, gather support from other countries for their resolution and defend the resolution they had put forward. There were 8 schools altogether that attended the event. It was an excellent opportunity for our students to hear from experts in climate change and to consider the viewpoints of diverse countries towards the issue. As our Year 9 Student Lilah commented “The conference was really interesting. The speeches that were given by the Oxford Professor and student were very inspiring to everyone.” Another student, Holly, stated “I think the conference was really great as I learnt a lot about Climate Change and also how to debate about it. Overall I really enjoyed it!”.
