People and Planet Students in Parliament
On Wednesday 6th December, Parneet in Year 8 and Amaya in Year 9 represented Croxley Danes’ People and Planet group at an event hosted in the Houses of Parliament by Christian Aid, Oxfam and other charitable organisations.
Artwork by students from across the UK including from Croxley Danes was displayed at the event with the focus being on climate justice and how the impacts of climate change are felt unevenly around the globe. The students were tasked with walking MPs from nationwide constituencies around the event, explaining the importance of each piece and of climate justice. Amaya and Parneet then worked together with students from other schools to illustrate the importance of climate justice in the light of COP28.
Both girls were praised for their passion and dedication by the MPs, including the Shadow Minister for climate change who told the girls she would pass on their words and dedication in meetings at COP28 when she attended.
The People and Planet group at Croxley Danes are working hard to support climate justice and other global causes by organising events such as the Christmas Jumper Day last week and the Teacher Fancy Dress Day taking place next week, with proceeds from both events going to Save the Children. Well done to all our People and Planet students at Croxley Danes and especially to Parneet and Amaya for their excellent work at the Houses of Parliament event last week.
