Local MP Visits Croxley Danes to Announce Essay Competition

We were thrilled to welcome Gagan Mohindra, the local MP for South West Hertfordshire, to Croxley Danes on Friday. During his visit, Gagan announced an exciting new essay writing competition for students in Years 11, 12, and 13 across the region.

This competition provides a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their academic and critical thinking skills, offering valuable experience for their UCAS or other Higher Education applications. It's a great way for students to demonstrate their abilities while tackling thought-provoking topics.

Students are invited to write an essay of up to 1000 words on one of the following thought-provoking statements:

  1. Encouraging higher education is more important than a high standard of primary education.

  2. The Government should prioritise investing in police officers over prisons.

  3. True liberal democracy involves the privatisation of healthcare.

  4. International climate policy fails if the top domestic priority is not the protection of nature.

It was a pleasure for our students to meet with Gagan and hear more about the competition. We’re excited to see how our students engage with these topics and look forward to receiving their submissions ahead of the 25th April deadline.

Good luck to all students participating!
