CDS Participates in Earth Day
On Thursday 22nd April, Croxley Danes, along with the five other schools of Croxley Green, celebrated Earth Day with the release of a collaborative video where pupils from all six Croxley schools performed a poem entitled, 'Voices of Today'. This poem was written by Croxley Danes student Bibi M in Year 9 and was accompanied by a piece of music called Earth Day Song, composed by another of our Year 9 students, Will O. Within three days, the video had been watched over 1000 times with comments on Twitter remarking on its impact.
Croxley Danes is part of a new group called 'Green Croxley' which is a consortium involving all the local schools, the council and a number of organisations, with the aim of supporting environmental initiatives in Croxley Green. After school on Earth Day over 100 pupils from local schools litter picked around the area supported by equipment provided by the council and cakes from The Kitchen in Croxley. Mrs Cox and Mrs Broadis joined the event and cleared up the field by the skate park. Mrs Cox remarked “It was wonderful to see the community of Croxley Green really coming together to mark Earth Day - we are very proud of the role that our students played in the day.”
